In Shopify, the product type only exists at item level, not per variant. The mapping Attribute Product Type → Product Type in PlentyONE therefore only updates this product type at item level. If you see a “Product type” per variant in Shopify, this is a custom metafield with the same name. It is not updated by this mapping.
How to recognise the problem
- In PlentyONE, the Product type property is maintained for the variants and linked to the product type.
- In Shopify, the value does not appear for the variants or is not updated, for example in the bulk editor under “Product type”.
- The product type at item level in Shopify, on the other hand, is correct.
Cause
Shopify’s product type always applies to the entire item. A field called “Product type” at variant level is a custom metafield. Mapping the property to Shopify’s product type does not update this metafield.
What to do
- In the account, go to Setup » Wizards » Omni-Channel » Input Field Mappings and check the existing mappings. There you can see what the property is linked to.
- Check whether the property is linked to Shopify’s product type and not to a metafield.
- If you want to transfer the value per variant, also map a metafield at variant level. Make sure to follow the supported configuration for metafields.
You can find more information about product types at Shopify: Product type.
