You create new items via the product catalog. This is first exported within 24 hours after changing a value on the variant, and a new export takes place within 24 hours after an update.
Required settings for item creation
The following steps are required for item creation via product catalogs:
- A separate product catalog must be created for each product type and sales channel (e.g.
Amazon.de,Amazon.fr). - All required data fields must be assigned in the product catalog.
- The product catalog must be activated.
- Important: Attributes and free text fields are not supported by the catalogs. You must convert existing attributes into properties.
Alternatives to item creation without a catalog (transitional solution)
As a transitional solution for switching to product catalogs, you can alternatively use an adapter or manual export and upload to Seller Central.
- Adapter solution:
- The adapter supplements the existing flat file information with additional data that can be added to the Amazon export via properties.
- Although it accesses current flat file information (including attributes and free text fields), it is only a temporary solution.
- The aim of the adapter is to give you time to convert your attributes into properties and configure product catalogs.
Recommendation: It is recommended to no longer use the adapter solution and instead work directly with product catalogs.
