If the stock level on Amazon remains unchanged or differs from the stock level in PlentyONE, this may be because the same SKU has been assigned to multiple variants. The feed to Amazon then contains the SKU twice, Amazon reports an error, and it is unclear which of the two entries will be accepted.
How to recognise the problem
- In PlentyONE, the stock level is
0, but a quantity remains on Amazon, or an incorrect quantity is displayed. This leads to overselling. - The same SKU appears twice in the feed report, with two different message IDs.
- The response from Amazon regarding the feed contains an error.
- A manual stock change to the variant triggers an update. Resetting the timestamp or recalculating the stock level does not help.
What happens on Amazon
Depending on the situation, Amazon rejects both entries or just one of them. If Amazon rejects both, the old stock level remains unchanged. If only one is accepted, the stock level may change to an incorrect value, depending on the order.
How to resolve the problem
- Check whether the same SKU is stored for multiple variants. This can easily happen if you add additional SKUs to variants.
- Assign each SKU to only one variant.
- If the problem persists, contact Support. Provide the variant ID, the affected SKUs and the feed ID.
