If Amazon does not make a payout even though the return or credit note was transmitted to Amazon and the response was positive, the credit note is usually missing the reference to the original order item. Without this reference, the system cannot transfer the Amazon data from the main order, and the item information is missing from the feed to Amazon.
How to recognise the problem
- Amazon does not make a payout for some of the reported returns. You must trigger the refund manually in Seller Central.
- The feed to Amazon contains no item information.
- The SKU matches exactly, and the external Amazon order number is present.
- The problem also affects standard items, not just bundles.
- The credit notes were not created manually from the return, but were generated, for example, via the REST API.
Cause
The credit note is missing the reference from the order item to the corresponding item in the return. As a result, the process does not load the data for the original order item, including the Amazon order item IDs, and the transmission fails.
How to fix the problem
- Create returns and credit notes from the main order or from the return itself. This ensures that the stored Amazon numbers are transferred automatically.
- As a test, create credit notes manually via the return to check whether the transmission then works.
- If you create credit notes via the REST API, transfer all the information available for the item positions of the return. Do not change the positions in the process.
