If an error message about invalid special characters appears when exporting metafields (e.g. for attributes or GPSR manufacturer data) in the Shopify backend, this is due to disallowed characters in the name or namespace of the metafield.
Cause of the error message
Shopify imposes strict formatting requirements on metafield definitions. Both the namespace and the name (key) must not contain special characters, umlauts or spaces. If special characters are submitted there, Shopify rejects the creation of the metafield.
Step-by-step guide to fix
Navigate in your
PlentyONEsystem to:Setup » Wizards » Omni-Channel.Open the wizard
Input Field Mappings.Select the affected metafield mapping.
Check the entries in the fields
NamespaceandName.Remove all special characters, umlauts and spaces (e.g.
gpsr_dateninstead ofGPSR-Daten!).Save the settings in the wizard.
Note: Metafields defined in
PlentyONEare transferred via the interface asvariant metafieldstoShopify.
