This is the most important decision when setting up. The basic rule is: Article data, prices, and stock can only ever be synchronised in one direction. Your choice depends on which system you want to use as your main system (leading system) for managing your articles in the future.
Here are the three most common scenarios to help you decide:
Scenario 1: Your articles are only available in PlentyONE.
- Goal: You want to sell your existing articles from PlentyONE in your new Shopify store.
- Setting: Select in the app the data transfer From PlentyONE to Shopify for articles, prices & stock as well as categories.
Scenario 2: Your articles are only available in Shopify.
- Goal: You want to transfer your articles from Shopify to PlentyONE to manage them centrally there.
- Setting: Select in the app the data transfer From Shopify to PlentyONE for articles, prices & stock as well as categories.
Scenario 3: You have articles in both systems and want to synchronise them.
- Goal: You want to merge your data stocks and use PlentyONE as the leading system in the future. This requires two steps.
- Step 1 (Import): First, set up the data import From Shopify to PlentyONE to transfer all Shopify articles into your PlentyONE system.
- Step 2 (Switch): After the import is complete, permanently change the setting to export From PlentyONE to Shopify. This makes PlentyONE your main system for article management.
