The adapter is a technical transitional solution that enables an automated transition from the old item data export using flat files to the new, catalogue-based item data export. It serves as a "bridge" for a gradual migration to the new Amazon integration.

Purpose and recommendation

The aim of the adapter is to export item data correctly to Amazon without you having to immediately convert all characteristics and free text fields into properties. The new catalogue export supports only properties.

Important note: The adapter solution is only a temporary solution. It is intended to give you time to transfer your characteristics into properties and configure regular product catalogues for Amazon. We strongly recommend that you no longer use the adapter solution and instead work directly with product catalogues.

Functionality and limitations

Please note the following important points when using the adapter:

• Item data only: The adapter can only transfer item data, but no offer data.
• Offer catalogue required: To export offer data (such as price and stock), you must also create and use an offer catalogue.
• Replacement for product catalogue: The adapter can therefore temporarily serve as a replacement for the product catalogue, but not for the offer catalogue.

When is the adapter relevant?

The adapter is only relevant for you if you export item data to Amazon via PlentyONE.

This is the case if you have selected the option Yes for the setting Item export in the menu Setup » Markets » Amazon » Settings » Tab: Item settings. If you do not export item data via PlentyONE, you do not need to use the adapter.
