• A regular contact is created/used when...
  • ...Shopify can guarantee the uniqueness of the customer via a unique technical ID. In this case, a full customer account is created in PlentyONE. For subsequent orders from this customer, the new order is simply assigned to the already existing account.
• A guest contact is created when...
  • ...Shopify cannot guarantee authenticity. Even if contact details such as name and address are identical to a previous order, for security and data protection reasons, a separate guest contact is created for this specific order.

Tip: If needed, you can manually convert these guest accounts into regular contacts in your PlentyONE system afterwards to merge the data.
