Since the change of 21.10.2026, access tokens are automatically invalidated when accounts are changed. If a role changes, the sessions of users with that role are ended. If you are assigned to the role yourself, your own session ends as well.
How to recognise the problem
- You are logged out while editing a role.
- When you save, the message
An error occurred while saving the roleappears. - Several colleagues are also logged out shortly after the change.
- This keeps happening as long as you edit roles.
How to fix the problem
- Log in with an admin user who is not assigned to any role. Admin users who are allowed to edit roles do not have to be assigned to a role.
- Edit the role under
Setup » Account management » Rolesand save it. - Ask the affected users to log in again afterwards so that the new permissions apply.
- Make several changes to a role in one go. If roles are edited repeatedly, users are logged out repeatedly as well.
Good to know: API users should be set up so that they log in again automatically when a session has expired.
If this doesn’t help
Stop editing roles for a while and watch whether the logouts continue. Otherwise, contact support and provide the affected users as well as the date and time of the logouts.
