What changed
The XML data of e-invoices (XRechnung and Factur-X) always contained your own bank account as the payment account, even for orders paid with PayPal Pay Upon Invoice (invoice purchase). With this payment method the buyer has to pay to the account of the payment service provider, so the XML did not match the payment. The XML now uses the bank details that PayPal provides for the payment. The PDF invoice was already correct and is not affected.
How it works
- If the payment of the order contains bank details from PayPal, as with PayPal Pay Upon Invoice, the XML shows this account: IBAN, account holder and, where the format allows it, the BIC. The account holder is also named as the payee of the invoice.
- The XML also contains the payment reference that the buyer has to quote when paying.
- Unless your template defines a payment means code, the payment is marked as SEPA credit transfer (code 58).
- For PayPal payments that come without bank details, for example PayPal wallet or card payments, no bank account is written. Your own bank account is no longer shown for PayPal payments.
- The Factur-X Basic format only allows the IBAN in the account. Account holder and BIC are written for Factur-X Comfort, Factur-X Extended and XRechnung. Payee and payment reference are written in all formats.
- The change applies to every document type that creates an XML, for example invoices and credit notes.
- For all other payment methods, the XML stays as it was.
What you need to do
- Nothing for new documents: the XML is created correctly automatically.
- Documents that were already created keep their previous XML data.
Good to know
- If the template uses the payment means code 30 or 58 (credit transfer), a PayPal payment without bank details still gets the account from the template setting for the IBAN, or else from your system bank data. The XRechnung standard requires an account for these codes.
- Canceled, refused, expired or deleted payments are not used for the bank details.
- If the payment data cannot be read, the XML is created as before with your template or system bank data.
