You can make a Second Chance Offer (SCO) to bidders following a completed auction. This gives bidders the opportunity to purchase the item at the price of their highest bid in a offer to unsuccessful bidders via Buy It Now.
Note: Second Chance Offers can only be made for listings of the Auction type. The offer is sent to bidders by email and in eBay » My Messages and is excluded from eBay search.
Activate global SCO function
First, you need to activate the SCO function in the global eBay settings:
- Open the menu Setup » Markets » eBay » Settings » Tab: Basic Settings.
- Select Yes for the setting Activate SCO function.
- Set the Duration in days after making the offer during which customers can accept the SCO.
- Save the settings.
Make individual SCO settings on the listing
To activate the SCO function on the item and set a minimum price, proceed as follows:
- Open the menu Sales Channels » Edit Listings.
- Open the relevant listing.
- Enter an amount in the Base tab under the setting SCO minimum price to activate the function.
- Save the settings.
Offer SCO from minimum bid
If you enter an amount, e.g. 100.00 EUR, under the setting SCO minimum price, the person with the highest bid wins the auction. All unsuccessful bidders who have bid the entered amount (here 100.00 EUR) or more will automatically receive a Second Chance Offer at the price of their highest bid. Bidders with a lower bid will not receive an SCO.
Note: If you enter the value 0.00, this function is disabled. You can still manually make an offer to bidders in the menu Setup » Markets » eBay » Second Chance Offer.
Display errors for SCO

- Open the menu Setup » Markets » eBay » Second Chance Offer.
- An overview of the last 150 SCOs from the most recently completed auctions will be displayed.
- Click on the warning icon in the table column Errors to view the error message.
