The ability to manually set the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) depends on the selected setting Use variant number as stock keeping unit (SKU) in the eBay basic settings.

Effect of the setting on SKU generation

You can find the relevant setting under: Setup » Markets » eBay » Settings » Tab: Basic Settings.

If you have chosen the recommended option No there, the SKU will be automatically generated and cannot be set manually.

Generated SKU format (setting: No)

The SKU is automatically generated in one of the following formats, depending on whether the listing has one or multiple variants:

• For listings with only one variant: The format is Prefix #MLID# + [Market Listing ID].
  • Example: #MLID#123
• For listings with multiple variants: The format is Prefix #MLID# + [Market Listing ID] - [AttributeValueSetId].
  • Example: #MLID#123-456
