A Variation Family on Amazon is a logical grouping of products that allows customers to compare and select different variations of an item on a single product page.
Structure of a Variation Family
A Variation Family always consists of two elements:
- Parent Product (Parent Item):
- Serves as a parent placeholder under which the variants are grouped.
- The parent product is not purchasable.
- Child Products (Variants):
- Are the actual, purchasable products (e.g., a red, green, or blue T-shirt).
- They are grouped under the parent product.
This structure enables customers to view all variants on a single product page without needing to switch pages.
What are Variation Themes?
Variation themes are the attributes in which the child products differ from each other.
| Example Product | Possible Variation Themes |
|---|---|
| T-shirt | Colour or Size |
| T-shirt | Combination of Colour and Size |
Child products can have more than one variation theme.
