If an order item had multiple promotion positions, only one of the promotion positions was previously updated when correcting the order based on VCS reports. The other promotion positions remained unchanged. This could result in incorrect discount amounts being shown on invoices.
This issue has been resolved. When correcting orders based on VCS reports, all promotion positions for an order item are now taken into account. The discount amount Amazon specifies for an order item in the VCS report is distributed across the associated promotion positions. The distribution is based on the previous discount amounts of these promotion positions. Any rounding remainder is allocated to the last promotion position. This ensures that the total of the corrected discount amounts exactly matches the discount amount specified by Amazon.
Example:
A customer orders a T-shirt. The order contains two promotion positions for this item:
| Position | Original discount amount |
|---|---|
| Order item: T-shirt | – |
| Promotion position 1 | €6.00 |
| Promotion position 2 | €4.00 |
| Total discounts | €10.00 |
Amazon reports a total discount of €8.00 for the T-shirt in the VCS report. This amount is distributed across the two promotion positions in the same proportions as their original discount amounts:
- Promotion position 1 originally accounted for €6.00 of the total discount of €10.00. It is therefore updated to 60% of €8.00, i.e. €4.80.
- Promotion position 2 originally accounted for €4.00 of the total discount of €10.00. It is therefore updated to 40% of €8.00, i.e. €3.20.
The two corrected discount amounts add up to exactly €8.00.
