In PlentyONE, you may find that a client in the General tab of a variation is grayed out. This indicates that the variation is currently temporarily hidden for this specific webshop.
The Cause: Automatic Client Visibility
This happens when the automatic client visibility logic is active for the variation. Specifically, it refers to the setting Client: automatically invisible when no net stock is available. If this option is enabled and the stock level of the variation drops to 0, PlentyONE automatically deactivates the visibility for that client.
As soon as stock is replenished and a stock calculation runs, the field is automatically re-enabled, and the variation becomes visible in the shop again.
The Problem: Variation remains invisible despite changing settings
If you uncheck the automation boxes (Client: automatically invisible...) while the client is already grayed out, the "hidden" status often remains locked. The variation will not automatically turn visible because the logic that would re-enable it was disabled when you removed the checkmark.
How to turn variations visible again
To manually unlock the affected clients, you have two options:
Option 1: Manually within the variation
Open the Item » Items » [Open item] » [Open variation] menu.
Open the General tab.
In the Availability and Visibility section, click the toggle icon next to the grayed-out client to release the lock.
Option 2: Using the variation group function (for multiple items)
If many items are affected, you can restore visibility in bulk:
Open the Item » Items menu.
Filter for the affected variations (see below).
Select the variations and open the Variation group function.
In the Client area, select your shop and set the status to Activate.
How do I find all "invisible" variations? You can search specifically for these in the item overview:
Open the filter and switch to the Client tab.
Select the desired client.
Choose the option All from the dropdown list.
Check the box not available.
Click Search to list all variations with a grayed-out client.
