Currently, there is no direct way to block spam messages via the withdrawal form using reCAPTCHA. To avoid legal concerns relating to data processing and consumer protection, Google reCAPTCHA was removed from the withdrawal form and withdrawal button in version 5.0.81 of PlentyShop LTS.

Legal background

A protection service such as Google reCAPTCHA involves the integration of third-party providers and the associated data processing. With the withdrawal form, there is a legal risk that exercising a consumer right could in practice be made more difficult or made dependent on protective mechanisms such as reCAPTCHA. For this reason, legal experts such as IT-Recht-Kanzlei do not classify the service as essential in this context.

Planned alternatives

An alternative spam protection method for the withdrawal form is currently being developed. As soon as a new version of the PlentyShop LTS plugin with a revised protection method is released, we will inform you in the plugin’s release log and changelog.
